Support and Grants

University/School Links Scheme

Improving links with secondary schools

The Institute of Physics University School Links Scheme provides grants to university physics departments to improve their links with local secondary schools.  We offer small grants typically of £750 for activities in this area. Activities might include making equipment and laboratories available to local schools, giving local physics teachers visiting status in the department or offering speakers (lecturers, postgraduates and undergraduates) to speak in schools.

Activities should be additional to those already being run in the department and we would expect successful applicants to produce a short write-up of their event, which we will then publish on our website as examples of good practice.

How do I apply?
Applications are considered once a year and should reach the Institute by 1 November.

An application form is available here.

The Institute of Physics should be acknowledged as a sponsor of the funded activity and we shall reserve the right to refuse applications which we deem inappropriate.

We would normally fund one application per university department each year.
