Introduction


The purpose of this meeting is to review progress, discuss on-going work and to enhance collaboration in all areas of Physical Acoustics such as:
  • NDE
  • Medical
  • Sonar/Underwater
  • Modelling
  • Imaging
  • Signal Processing
  • High Power
  • Lasers/Photo-Acoustics
  • Condition Monitoring
  • Transducers
  • Process Control
  • SAW Devices
  • Environmental
  • AE Vibration/Noise
  • Ultrasonic Joining
  • Sonochemistry

This year’s conference will take place over three consecutive days starting after lunch on Monday 8th December and finishing on Wednesday 10th December.

The organisers hope to attract presentations from a number of internationally recognised experts and researchers as well as those from students and young researchers. Each session will include a presentation by an Invited Speaker.

The venue is well served by air connections from the UK to Bordeaux airport. There will be a transport shuttle provided between the airport and the conference venue. More information an be found on the conference website.

The Institute of Physics offers bursaries for student members of the Institute to attend and present at the conference. To qualify for a bursary please submit extended abstracts before the closing date as the Group has to approve such bursaries for the institute.

Tuesday 9th December – Dr Steve Robinson (National Physical Laboratory)

Wednesday 10th December – Professor Tony Kent (University of Nottingham)


Call for Papers

The Group requests presentation proposals as abstracts of not more than 1 side of A4 or 600 words (a max three references are permitted, no figures). Abstracts should be submitted by going to the conference website at http://www.affichecrea.com/site_sfa_prov/AFPAC/en/index.htm

Authors will receive an abstract reference number which should be quoted when making subsequent enquiries. Confirmation of receipt of the abstract will also be sent by email.

The abstract deadline is 15th November 2008.
